Python Developer – Networking Domain

About Position:
We are looking for an experienced Python Developer with strong expertise in the Networking domain to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing southbound interfaces and data collection components for a network monitoring and service management platform. In this role, you will work closely with IP and Optical Network Management Systems (NMS), integrating controller and device APIs to collect, process, and model network data. You will contribute to the development of scalable software solutions that manage inventory, topology, services, telemetry, and notifications while enabling provisioning of optical and packet network services.

What You'll Do:
Design and develop southbound interfaces for network monitoring and management platforms.
Study and integrate APIs exposed by IP and Optical NMS Controllers and network devices.
Build software components that collect, process, validate, and transform network data.
Develop and maintain product-specific data models for inventory, topology, services, statistics, and notifications.
Integrate northbound and southbound APIs with various network controllers and management platforms.
Develop connectors for collecting and processing network telemetry and operational data.
Implement service provisioning capabilities for Optical E-Line services and IP VPN services.
Develop solutions to create, modify, and delete L2VPN and L3VPN services through the platform.
Design scalable and efficient asynchronous applications using Python and modern concurrency frameworks.
Optimize application performance through multi-threading and asynchronous programming techniques.
Troubleshoot complex networking and integration issues across controllers, APIs, and devices.
Collaborate with architects, product teams, and networking specialists to define technical solutions.
Participate in code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and quality assurance activities.
Create technical documentation, design specifications, and user guides.
Support deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of applications in containerized environments.
Contribute to Agile development processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Expertise You'll Bring:
5+ years of hands-on software development experience.
Strong programming expertise in Python.
Deep understanding of generators, asyncio, and asynchronous programming.
Experience with multi-threaded and concurrent application development.
Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles and design patterns.
Hands-on experience building scalable enterprise-grade applications.
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning capabilities.
Extensive knowledge of Optical and Packet Networking technologies.
Strong understanding of Layer 0, Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 networking concepts.
Experience with networking protocols and technologies including ISIS, IGP, Segment Routing (SR Policy), MPLS VPN technologies, Optical transport networks.
Understanding of network inventory, topology discovery, telemetry, and service lifecycle management.
Experience working with network monitoring and management platforms.
Hands-on experience integrating Northbound APIs (NBIs) of Network Management Systems.
Experience working with IP and Optical network controllers.
Knowledge of REST APIs, data exchange formats, and integration frameworks.
Ability to understand and consume vendor-specific APIs and controller interfaces.
Experience implementing service provisioning workflows.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.
Experience with Docker and containerized application deployment.
Familiarity with CI/CD practices and DevOps methodologies.
Experience with Linux-based development and deployment environments.
Knowledge of Git-based version control systems.
Hands-on experience with Git and GitHub-based development workflows.
Experience using JIRA for project tracking and agile delivery.
Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and globally distributed teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
