The Company
Our client is an established organization operating within the energy and petroleum downstream sector in Myanmar. The business is strengthening its refinery technical team to support safe operations, asset reliability, control-system integrity, commissioning, startup and continuous plant improvement.
The Position
The Instrument Engineer / Supervisor will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating and improving instrumentation and control systems across refinery operations. The role covers field instrumentation, transmitters, control valves, analyzers, PLC, DCS, HMI, ESD, Fire & Gas, alarms, interlocks and communication systems, together with preventive and predictive maintenance, loop checking and equipment reliability improvement.
The position will provide hands-on support during pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, shutdown and turnaround activities, including instrument calibration, functional testing, alarm and interlock testing, ESD verification and control-system validation. The engineer will also conduct root-cause investigations and work closely with OEMs, system suppliers, instrument manufacturers and technical specialists.
The Person
Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline, with approximately 5–10 years of Instrumentation & Control experience within refinery, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, LNG or related process industries.
Strong troubleshooting capability across PLC, DCS, HMI, ESD, alarms, interlocks, field instrumentation and communication systems is required. Hands-on HollySys / Holysis DCS experience is mandatory and will be a key selection criterion.
Candidates with previous experience working for a Chinese engineering or Oil & Gas company, Chinese EPC contractor, or on China-led refinery / petrochemical projects will be strongly preferred. Experience working directly with Chinese technical specialists, OEMs or engineering teams would be particularly relevant to the position. The original JD specifically includes coordination with Chinese technical specialists for advanced troubleshooting and technical support.
Experience in refinery maintenance, commissioning, startup, calibration, loop checking, process safety, HAZOP, MOC and technical knowledge transfer will also be highly regarded.
