Backend Developer

Overview
We are seeking a Backend Software Developer to join a growing technology team focused on delivering innovative digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency and user experiences. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting scalable, cloud-based applications, with a strong focus on backend development, APIs and Azure technologies.
This role offers the opportunity to work on modern cloud-native solutions while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software that meets business needs.
Principal Responsibilities
Design, Develop and maintain high-quality back-end services using Azure cloud technologies.
Proficient in typescript, node.js or python for delivery of services and API’s and familiarity with associated frameworks using those languages.
Implement RESTful API’s and services to support web and mobile applications.
Collaborate with designers and business stakeholders to understand requirements to deliver solutions to meet the business need.
Design and manage databases (SQL and NoSQL) to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
Leverage Azure services (Azure functions, Azure App Service, Azure SQL etc) to build scalable and resilient back-end systems.
Write clean, maintainable and efficient code ensuring best practices followed.
Implement and maintain unit testing frameworks to ensure code quality.
Work closely with cross functional teams including designers, developers and business stakeholders.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Communicate effectively with stake holders and business units to better understand the need and ensure its being met through technical specifications.
Create and maintain technical documentation for web applications, including setup, guides and API documentation.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Experience
3+ years professional software development experience with a focus on cloud and web technologies
Strong experience with Azure cloud or AWS or GCP services and architecture
Proven track record of building and deploying scalable web applications.
Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Skills
Strong understanding of RESTful API’s and microservices / services architectures.
Experience Azure cloud services (e.g. functions, service bus and DevOps)
Experience with Git and GitHub workflows.
Expertise with RESTful API’s and back-end integration.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Experience with database technologies (SQL Server, MySQL, Azure SQL and NoSQL).
Comfortable building on and improving CI/CD pipelines.
Self-motivated with a passion for keeping up with industry trends.
Clear communicator and collaborator with stakeholders and project teams
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Formal Education Qualifications
Degree/Diploma/Certification in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field.
Agile/DevOps related certifications such as – SCRUM Master, Cloud Foundations, etc., is desirable
