At Version 1, we are passionate about delivering impactful digital transformation solutions for our customers. We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer (Java & Angular) to join our team.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining modern, scalable web applications, working across both front-end and back-end technologies.
This role offers the opportunity to work in an agile environment using modern technologies, cloud platforms, and engineering best practices while contributing to mission-critical services used by thousands of users.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot and Angular.
Build responsive, accessible and user-centric web applications.
Develop and consume RESTful APIs and microservices.
Contribute to solution design, technical architecture and estimation activities.
Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
Perform unit, integration and system testing to ensure solution quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps ways of working.
Contribute to technical discussions, innovation initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven commercial experience as a Full Stack Developer.
Strong experience developing applications using Java and the Spring Boot/Spring Framework ecosystem.
Strong experience developing modern web applications using Angular.
Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3.
Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
Experience with automated testing, unit testing and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
Experience with version control systems such as Git.
Experience working within Agile delivery teams using Scrum or Kanban.
Experience with application servers and containers such as Tomcat.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Skills
Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
Experience delivering solutions within the UK public sector or GDS-aligned environments.
Knowledge of secure coding practices and application security principles.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools.
