About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Important Compensation Note
This is currently not a salaried position.
The role is offered on a revenue-share and/or equity basis while we work toward securing our initial funding. The exact structure, responsibilities, expected commitment, and compensation terms will be documented and agreed upon before joining.
This is intended for someone who understands the risks of early-stage game development and is interested in joining the core leadership team with meaningful influence over the project and studio.
Axiosys Studios is developing Mawforged, a dark-fantasy, first-person survival RPG built in Unreal Engine 5.
Players take the role of a dwarven delver descending through the layered depths of the Maw. They will explore dangerous environments, gather rare materials, study creatures and forgotten technology, craft stronger equipment, build a refuge, and prepare for increasingly difficult expeditions.
We are looking for an experienced Game Producer who can bring structure, accountability, and momentum to the development team.
This is not a generic administrative or corporate project-management position. We need someone who understands how games are actually made and can help us turn ideas, concepts, and documentation into tested, playable builds.
Role Overview
As Game Producer, you will work directly with the CEO, Game Director, and department leads across programming, game design, art, animation, narrative, audio, and QA.
The Game Director owns the creative direction. Department leads own the decisions within their disciplines. You will own the production structure that keeps everyone aligned and moving toward the same milestone.
You will make sure priorities are clear, tasks have owners, dependencies are understood, blockers are addressed, and agreed work is actually delivered.
You must be comfortable challenging unrealistic scope, following up when work stalls, and giving leadership an honest picture of the project’s status.
What You’ll Own
• Build and maintain the overall development roadmap, milestone plan, and production schedule
• Break major features into clear deliverables, dependencies, tasks, and acceptance criteria
• Own and maintain our production structure in OpenProject
• Keep the backlog clean, prioritized, assigned, and connected to current milestones
• Coordinate work between game design, programming, art, animation, narrative, audio, and QA
• Run focused production meetings, sprint planning, milestone reviews, and retrospectives
• Track progress without relying only on what people say during meetings
• Identify blockers, missing decisions, unclear ownership, and production risks early
• Follow up with team members and department leads when deliverables begin to slip
• Control scope and prevent the team from continuously adding features without completing existing work
• Coordinate playable builds, internal reviews, playtests, feedback collection, and bug triage
• Work with the Technical Lead on build readiness, integration planning, and technical dependencies
• Work with the Game Director and Game Design Lead to turn the creative vision into achievable development priorities
• Work with the Head of Art to coordinate asset production, reviews, dependencies, and in-engine delivery
• Support contractor and external contributor planning, including briefs, deadlines, and deliverable reviews
• Maintain clear production documentation, decision logs, meeting outcomes, and status reports
• Prepare realistic project updates for leadership, publishers, investors, grant organizations, or other partners when required
What We’re Looking For
• Previous professional experience as a Game Producer, Associate Producer, Development Manager, Project Manager, or similar role within game development
• Experience working on a game that reached a playable milestone, vertical slice, Early Access, or commercial release
• A real understanding of game-development pipelines and the dependencies between design, programming, art, animation, audio, and QA
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine production workflows, even if you are not a programmer
• Strong experience managing roadmaps, milestones, backlogs, sprints, risks, and cross-discipline dependencies
• Ability to turn broad creative goals into concrete and realistic production plans
• Strong written communication and documentation skills
• Confidence to ask difficult questions, challenge unclear decisions, and push back against unrealistic scope
• Ability to hold people accountable professionally without creating unnecessary conflict
• Experience working with remote and internationally distributed teams
• Ability to work independently without waiting for the CEO or Game Director to organize every step
General project-management experience without game-development experience is not enough for this position.
Bonus Points
• Experience producing a survival game, action RPG, immersive sim, or exploration-focused title
• Experience with indie or AA development and the realities of limited budgets and small teams
• Experience helping a team deliver a vertical slice or publisher-facing milestone
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5, GitLab, source-control workflows, automated builds, and bug tracking
• Experience using OpenProject, Jira, HacknPlan, Trello, or similar production tools
• Experience coordinating external studios, freelancers, or outsourcing partners
• Experience preparing milestone reports for publishers, investors, or grant programs
• Experience introducing structure into a project that already has an active team and existing production challenges
How We Work
Our current stack includes:
• Unreal Engine 5
• OpenProject
• GitLab
• Nextcloud
• Discord
• Remote collaboration across multiple disciplines and time zones
We are not looking for someone who fills the calendar with meetings or updates task statuses without understanding the work.
We need someone who can look at the whole production, identify what is preventing progress, bring the right people together, and make sure decisions lead to completed work.
Please do not send only a generic project-management CV. We want to understand your actual role in game development and what you helped the team deliver.
