Recruit AI is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a Calgary-based public accounting firm on a full-time remote basis from Pakistan. This role requires at least two years of experience working with Canadian accounting clients, focusing on small and medium-sized businesses and individual tax matters. The candidate must have a strong grasp of Canadian accounting standards, tax compliance, and payroll processes. The position demands exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work independently while managing multiple client files and deadlines in a remote environment.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and reviewing bookkeeping, account reconciliations, year-end working papers, and adjusting journal entries. The role involves preparing compilation engagements, financial statements, Canadian corporate and personal income tax returns, GST/HST returns, and payroll processing, including remittances and information slips. The incumbent will also assist with CRA notices, communicate with clients to resolve accounting queries, and maintain compliance with tax regulations. This role does not include team management Responsibilities
but requires strong communication skills and proficiency in QuickBooks Online, with preferred experience in Caseware and Canadian tax software.
Responsibilities
Maintain and review complete bookkeeping records and perform accurate account reconciliations to ensure financial data integrity.
Prepare detailed year-end working papers and adjust journal entries to comply with Canadian accounting principles.
Compile and prepare comprehensive Compilation Engagements and financial statements for Canadian clients.
Prepare Canadian corporate income tax returns (T2) and personal income tax returns (T1), ensuring timely and accurate filing.
Manage GST/HST return preparation and submissions in alignment with regulatory requirements.
Process payroll transactions, handle payroll remittances, and prepare T4s, T4As, and T5 information slips and related filings.
Provide support responding to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) inquiries and routine compliance matters.
Maintain consistent communication with clients to collect missing information and resolve accounting and tax-related questions.
Independently manage multiple client files, prioritize work, and meet all deadlines without supervision.
Utilize QuickBooks Online for bookkeeping and prepare reports, ensuring accurate data entry and financial tracking.
Apply knowledge of Canadian tax software and Caseware to assist in tax preparation and financial statement compilation.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in Canadian tax laws and payroll regulations to ensure full compliance.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain high-quality financial records and tax documentation.
