Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Database Administrator role based in Canada. The Database Administrator will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining database systems that support core business operations and client management. Daily tasks include monitoring database performance, optimizing queries, managing backups and recovery, and ensuring data integrity and security. The role involves designing and updating database schemas, handling replication and high-availability setups, and troubleshooting database-related issues in coordination with development and operations teams. The Database Administrator will also document database procedures, support data reporting needs, and implement best practices for scalability and reliability.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Administration and Databases to manage, secure, and optimize production environments.
Candidates should possess skills in Database Design to create efficient, scalable, and well-structured data models.
Candidates should possess skills in Troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve performance, connectivity, and integrity issues.
Candidates should possess skills in Replication to configure and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Solid understanding of SQL and experience with one or more major database platforms (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
Knowledge of backup strategies, restoration procedures, and database security best practices.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in service-based or consulting environments is an advantage.
