Senior User Experience Researcher

Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior User Researcher to independently own research for one or more product charters and mentor juniors on technical craft. The role requires translating complex product and business problems into well-scoped research studies, synthesising findings into compelling narratives, and ensuring insights shape product and design decisions.
This is not a supported IC role. The expectation is full outcome ownership — from scoping through to insight implementation — within the researcher’s assigned charter.
Must-have
5+ years of hands-on user research experience with a track record of independently leading complex projects from scoping to delivery.
Background in a consumer or marketplace product company with demonstrated ability to connect research to business and product outcomes.
Experience contributing research during 0-1 product builds — where user needs and problem space were undefined — not just feature-level research.
Comfort with ambiguity: able to break down large, poorly-defined problems into structured, cohort-based research plans.
Strong qualitative depth with ability to integrate quantitative and analytics inputs into research synthesis.
Good to have
Some experience informally guiding or reviewing the work of junior researchers, even without a formal mentoring title.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Psychology, Social Sciences, or related fields. Quality of work experience takes precedence over formal education.
