Spanish to English medical interpreter

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Spanish to English Medical Interpreter. The interpreter will facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate communication between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals via phone, video, or other remote platforms. Day-to-day tasks include performing consecutive and simultaneous interpretation during medical consultations, translating patient information and educational materials as needed, and ensuring correct usage of medical terminology. The role also involves documenting interpreted sessions according to organizational protocols, maintaining strict confidentiality, and adhering to ethical standards and regulatory requirements. The interpreter will collaborate with clinical staff, support patient understanding of diagnoses and treatment plans, and participate in training or quality assurance activities to maintain high interpretation standards.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Medical Interpretation and Interpreting between Spanish and English.
Proficiency in Translation of medical documents and patient-facing materials.
Solid knowledge of Medical Terminology relevant to a wide range of clinical specialties.
Ability to perform Simultaneous Interpretation in fast-paced medical encounters.
Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent listening and speaking skills.
Certification or formal training in medical interpreting (e.g., CMI, CHI) preferred.
Experience working in healthcare, telehealth, or clinical environments is beneficial.
Strong ethical judgment, respect for patient confidentiality, and familiarity with HIPAA or equivalent privacy regulations.
Reliable internet connection and comfort using remote communication and documentation tools.
Ability to remain calm under pressure, manage sensitive conversations, and support patients with empathy and professionalism.
As a medical interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring effective communication between healthcare providers and patients, helping bridge language barriers so everyone receives the care they need.

Project 1 – Hourly rate:
$4.00 per connected hour
Requires minimum 9 months of experience.
Project 2 – $0.13 per talking minute
Requires 3 to 6 months of experience.
Project 3 – $0.10 per talking minute
No prior experience required. Candidates will undergo training before starting.
