We partner with leading equipment manufacturers to provide reliable, innovative solutions for water and wastewater treatment facilities, engineers, municipalities, and operators.
We are looking for a motivated Technical Sales Representative (Sales Engineer) to join our growing team. This is a remote, territory-based position for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving technical problems, and working directly with customers to identify the right solutions for their facilities and projects.
The successful candidate must reside within New England. Specific territory responsibilities will be determined based on the candidate’s location, experience, and our existing territory coverage.
Role Description The Technical Sales Representative – Water & Wastewater is a full-time remote role responsible for promoting and selling water and wastewater equipment and solutions across RRI’s New England territory. In this role, the representative engages with municipal and industrial customers to understand application needs, recommend appropriate products, and support the specification and bidding process. Daily activities include managing a sales pipeline, conducting virtual and on-site customer meetings, preparing proposals, and following up on inquiries to drive orders and repeat business. The role involves collaborating with manufacturers to stay current on product capabilities, providing technical guidance to customers, and coordinating training and presentations for consulting engineers, plant operators, and other stakeholders. The representative also maintains accurate records in CRM tools, participates in industry events as needed, and supports ongoing customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in the water/wastewater industry, technical sales, or technical solution design
Knowledge of municipal water and wastewater treatment processes, equipment, or infrastructure
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field, or equivalent technical sales experience, is preferred.
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within New England for customer visits and industry events, up to 60% travel required.
Candidates should possess strong Technical Sales skills, with experience selling engineered products or solutions in the water, wastewater, or related markets.
Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service skills, including responsiveness, problem-solving, and a commitment to building long-term client relationships.
Candidates should possess clear and effective Communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
Candidates should possess Training skills, with the ability to deliver product demonstrations, lunch-and-learns, and technical sessions for customers and partners.
Relevant qualifications include familiarity with municipal and industrial water/wastewater systems, comfort working remotely across a regional territory, and proficiency with CRM and standard office software.
Travel
This is a field-based sales position requiring regular travel throughout the assigned territory. Candidates should expect up to 60% travel, or as needed, for customer meetings, site visits, engineering meetings, manufacturer training, conferences, trade shows, and other industry events. Travel will primarily be within New England, with occasional travel outside the region for manufacturer training or industry events.
