We are seeking a Controls Engineer - Emulate 3D to model, test, and validate conveyor system performance before implementation. In this role, you will use Emulate3D and FlexSim to create accurate system models, evaluate throughput and system rates, and identify opportunities to improve overall design performance.You will work closely with our System Design and Controls Engineering teams to optimize material handling solutions and perform emulation using actual PLC programs and RS Echo. Your work will help validate control logic, reduce project risk, improve system efficiency, and deliver a stronger experience for our customers.
What You’ll Do
Develop detailed conveyor system models using Emulate3D and FlexSim
Analyze system rates, throughput, capacity, and overall performance
Perform controls emulation using actual PLC programs and RS Echo
Test and validate PLC logic in a virtual environment before field implementation
Partner with System Design engineers to evaluate layouts and optimize system performance
Collaborate with Controls Engineers to identify sequencing, communication, and operational issues
Apply your understanding of conveyor mechanics, electrical controls, and industrial automation to simulation models
Document simulation results, assumptions, findings, and recommended improvements
Communicate technical results clearly to engineering teams and project stakeholders
Help improve simulation and emulation standards, tools, and internal processes
Support projects by delivering accurate, timely, and customer-focused solutions
Requirements
What You’ll Bring:
Proficiency with Emulate3D and experience modeling automated or conveyor-based systems
Experience with FlexSim or a comparable simulation platform
Familiarity with PLC programming concepts and industrial automation
Experience performing controls emulation or virtual commissioning
Knowledge of conveyor mechanics, electrical controls, and material handling systems
Ability to interpret system layouts, operational requirements, and control narratives
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to collaborate across controls, mechanical, electrical, and system design disciplines
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to accuracy, quality, and project deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
Experience using PLC programs and RS Echo for system validation
Experience supporting conveyor, sortation, distribution, or material handling projects
Understanding of system throughput analysis and performance validation
