Role Description The Founder of AMEMBA – Amicale des Anciennes de la Maison d’Education Mariama Bâ – will provide strategic leadership to define and advance the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals. This part-time, remote role involves establishing governance structures, developing core programs and initiatives for alumni engagement, and building partnerships with educational institutions, community organizations, and stakeholders. The Founder will oversee fundraising efforts, manage budgets at an early stage, and coordinate outreach, including communication campaigns, digital presence, and member recruitment. Day-to-day tasks include organizing virtual meetings and events, supervising volunteers or early staff, representing AMEMBA in public forums, and ensuring that activities align with ethical, inclusive, and community-centered values.
Qualifications
Leadership and management skills, including experience in founding, building, or leading a nonprofit, association, or community organization.
Strategic planning and organizational development abilities to design programs, set priorities, and establish sustainable structures and processes.
Strong communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement across diverse audiences.
Fundraising, budgeting, and basic financial management skills to support responsible resource allocation and long-term sustainability.
Experience with remote collaboration tools and digital platforms; ability to coordinate virtual meetings, events, and online communities.
Proven ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and follow through on commitments in a part-time, remote environment.
Background or strong interest in education, alumni networks, community development, or women’s empowerment is highly beneficial.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fields such as nonprofit management, social sciences, education, communications, or a related area is preferred.
