Part-Time Research Assistant — Solid Mechanics FEA & Surrogate Modeling

Optimuos builds MetaXLab, a physics-informed AI and digital twin platform for materials science. We're hiring a part-time research assistant to work on solid mechanics simulation and surrogate modeling.
Note: this is solid/structural mechanics FEA — not molecular dynamics or atomistic simulation. Please don't apply if your background is MD/DFT.
Expertise we need
Finite element analysis (Abaqus preferred) — nonlinear mechanics, contact mechanics, plasticity and viscoplasticity
Constitutive material modeling (e.g., pressure-dependent plasticity, viscoplastic laws)
Fracture toughness and fatigue modeling — crack propagation, cyclic loading, S-N behavior
Surrogate / reduced-order modeling using machine learning
Python for simulation automation
Background in mechanical engineering, materials science, or computational mechanics — MS/PhD or equivalent hands-on research experience.
