Design Director

Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Design Director at São Paulo Tech School (SPTech). The Design Director will oversee multidisciplinary design initiatives, guiding teams and projects from concept to delivery while ensuring alignment with institutional goals and standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing design workflows, setting quality benchmarks, providing feedback and mentorship to designers, and coordinating with academic and operational leadership. The role also involves developing and maintaining brand consistency across digital and physical touchpoints, collaborating on product and service design for educational programs, and ensuring that architectural and construction-related documents meet functional, aesthetic, and compliance requirements. The Design Director will participate in strategic planning, contribute to innovation in design education, and help integrate design thinking into SPTech’s learning experiences and external communications.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Design Management skills, including project leadership, team coordination, and design process optimization.
Candidates should possess Branding skills, with experience developing and maintaining cohesive visual identities across multiple platforms.
Candidates should possess Architecture and Construction Drawings skills, with the ability to interpret, review, and guide spatial and technical design documentation.
Candidates should possess Product Design skills, with experience in user-centered design, prototyping, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, with strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Experience leading or mentoring multidisciplinary design teams, preferably within education, technology, or creative industries.
Comfort with design and collaboration tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, CAD/BIM software, project management platforms).
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Architecture, Visual Communication, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Fluency in English and Portuguese is an advantage, along with familiarity with Brazilian regulatory or educational contexts.
