Linux Kernel Developer

Role Description
We are seeking a technically focused Linux Kernel Developer to develop, maintain, debug, and optimize low-level software components within Linux-based systems. The role involves working with kernel subsystems, device drivers, hardware interfaces, system resources, and platform-level software to deliver stable and efficient operating system functionality.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining Linux kernel code, implementing and modifying kernel modules, analyzing system behavior, debugging kernel-level issues, and improving system performance and stability. The Linux Kernel Developer will collaborate with hardware, firmware, embedded, systems, and software engineering teams to support hardware integration and reliable system operation.
The role also involves investigating kernel crashes, memory and concurrency issues, reviewing source code, analyzing system logs, optimizing resource utilization, and supporting kernel configuration and build activities. The developer will contribute to technical documentation, testing, code reviews, and continuous improvements to Linux-based platforms and system architecture.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong understanding of Linux operating system architecture and kernel fundamentals.
Proficiency in C programming and familiarity with low-level software development.
Understanding of Linux kernel subsystems, processes, threads, memory management, scheduling, and system calls.
Familiarity with kernel modules, device drivers, interrupts, DMA, I/O operations, and hardware interfaces.
Understanding of concurrency, synchronization, locking mechanisms, and race-condition handling.
Familiarity with Linux kernel configuration, compilation, build systems, and debugging workflows.
Knowledge of Git and collaborative software development practices.
Familiarity with tools such as GDB, ftrace, perf, dmesg, crash, or similar system debugging utilities.
Understanding of networking, filesystems, storage, or embedded Linux is an advantage.
Familiarity with ARM, x86, RISC-V, or other processor architectures is an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to analyze complex system-level problems and develop reliable technical solutions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional engineering teams.
Ability to produce clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented kernel-level software.
