Job Purpose
To provide comprehensive occupational health and emergency medical services to employees and contract workers at the plant, ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety requirements, and support the company in maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Occupational health and emergency medical support, as applicable to plant requirements.
Conduct pre-employment, periodic and occupational health medical examinations for employees and contract workers.
Identify and monitor occupational health risks associated with steel manufacturing, fabrication, welding, heat exposure, noise, dust, chemicals and other workplace hazards.
Maintain medical records, health surveillance records and statutory documentation as required.
Provide first aid and emergency treatment for workplace injuries, accidents and medical emergencies.
Coordinate ambulance services and referrals to appropriate hospitals/specialists when required.
Participate in industrial accident investigation from the medical/occupational-health perspective and recommend preventive measures.
Advise employees and management regarding occupational illnesses, fitness for work and suitable job restrictions where medically indicated.
Monitor workers exposed to specific occupational hazards and recommend appropriate medical surveillance.
Conduct health awareness programs covering topics such as ergonomics, heat stress, occupational hygiene, lifestyle diseases, first aid and workplace health.
Support implementation of the plant's occupational health and wellness programs.
