Product Designer (UI/UX)

Marklytics builds Digital Product Passport (DPP), product traceability and regulatory compliance platforms for global manufacturers in the battery, automotive and materials sectors.
The Role
You will be our first and only designer. There is no design team, design system or process to inherit, so you will build all of it.You will own the full user experience across our products: the web platform used by manufacturers and compliance teams, the admin and configuration tools, and the public-facing passport views consumers see when they scan a QR code on a product. You will work directly with the CTO, product and engineering leads, and the delivery team, and your decisions will ship to production quickly.This role suits someone who wants ownership, is comfortable with ambiguity, and moves easily between high-level product thinking and pixel-level detail in the same week.
What You Will Own
Product design, end to end
Take features from problem definition to shipped product: discovery, user flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity UI
Design data-heavy B2B interfaces, including dashboards, data tables, multi-step onboarding and submission workflows, role-based access views and audit trails
Turn dense regulatory requirements into workflows users can complete without a manual
Design public passport pages that are clear, accessible and credible on any device
Design system and standards
Build Marklytics' design system from scratch: foundations, tokens, components, patterns and documentation
Keep the design system consistent across a multi-tenant platform and client-specific deployments, including white-label and on-premise variants
Set up the design process: how work is briefed, reviewed, handed off and QA'd
Collaboration and delivery
Work with engineers daily to scope work, make trade-offs and review builds for design accuracy
Produce clear handoff specs covering states, edge cases, responsive behaviour and interactions
Talk to clients and end users to understand their workflows, and run lightweight usability testing
Beyond the product
Support sales and pre-sales with product demos, clickable prototypes and design concepts for proposals
Contribute to brand and marketing design as needed, such as pitch decks, the website and product collateral
Help shape the design function as the company grows, including future design hires
What We Are Looking For
Must have
3–5 years of experience in UI/UX or product design, with at least 2 years on B2B, SaaS or enterprise web products
A portfolio with case studies that show your thinking (problem, constraints, options, decisions and outcome)
Proven experience designing complex, data-dense interfaces such as tables, filters, forms, dashboards and permission-based views
Advanced Figma skills: components, variants, auto-layout, variables and interactive prototyping
Experience building or significantly contributing to a design system
Strong visual design skills, including typography, layout, hierarchy and attention to detail
Working knowledge of accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and responsive design
Ability to explain and defend design decisions to engineers, founders and clients
Self-direction: you can prioritise your own work without a design manager
Good to have
Experience as an early or sole designer at a startup
Exposure to compliance, supply chain, manufacturing, sustainability, climate-tech or regulated industries
Understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, React) and how designs are built
Experience with user research methods and usability testing
Brand, marketing or presentation design experience
Experience working with distributed or international teams across time zones
