Role Description The Director of Portfolio Management is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, prioritization, and execution of the organization’s project and program portfolio. This role leads portfolio governance processes, evaluates business cases, and ensures initiatives align with financial targets and organizational strategy. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring portfolio performance, managing resource allocation, and identifying risks, dependencies, and opportunities for optimization. The Director partners with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to provide clear visibility into portfolio status, recommend adjustments, and support informed decision-making. This position also develops and refines portfolio management frameworks, tools, and reporting to enhance transparency, efficiency, and value delivery.
Qualifications
Strong Analytical Skills with the ability to interpret complex data, assess trade-offs, and support evidence-based decisions.
Experience in Program Management, including coordinating multiple initiatives, managing dependencies, and driving outcomes across teams.
Background in Finance, with familiarity in budgeting, forecasting, and evaluating return on investment for projects and programs.
Expertise in Project Portfolio Management and Portfolio Management practices, including governance, prioritization, and resource planning.
Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional stakeholders in a remote environment, with excellent communication and influencing skills.
Experience implementing or optimizing portfolio management tools and reporting dashboards.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PfMP, PMP) are beneficial.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive continuous improvement in processes and frameworks.
