Our client is an established global leader in digital learning and education technology. One of their most established divisions is seeking a Head of Engineering to oversee the engineering organization of 100-people. This highly visible role will work closely with executive leadership and product in leading large-scale digital transformations as the org transitions from bespoke custom offerings to a unified SaaS platform.
Job Title: Head of Engineering
Job Type: Full-time
Location: 100% Remote - EST or CST time zones preferred. Must be based in US and eligible to work for any US employer to be considered. No C2C or third-parties.
Required Technology And Skills
15+ years professional experience in engineering - background as a hands-on engineer with progression into leadership
5+ years of hands-off technical leadership
Demonstrated experience leading geographically dispersed engineering organizations of 100+ people across multiple teams (Application development, Data, Platform engineering, etc.)
Proven success leading digital transformations - ie: tech stack modernizations, transformations to a pure SaaS model
B2B2C product experience
Current ability to guide technical architecture and technical roadmaps for large-scale digital transformations
Experience driving AI adoption, evaluating tools, and integrating AI into daily engineering operations
Experience overseeing data architecture and helping an organization get more insight and visibility from their legacy data
Experience contributing to technical roadmap and architecture for legacy tech stack modernization efforts (ie: moving from monolithic to microservice architecture)
Experience working in Large-scale AWS environment
Stable background - consistent multi-year tenures at brand-name, sophisticated tech-first companies
Excellent communication and ability to managing up & down, interfacing with C-level executives and board members
Additional Skills
Degree in Computer Science or STEM related field
MBA or MS in STEM related field
Background in big-tech, Ed-tech, Health-tech, or other complex data environment with compliance and regulatory constraints
Mission-driven
Experience working in environment with complex portfolio of hundreds of products and unifying into a SaaS platform
Past experience as VP / SVP Engineering or higher
Compensation: $300,000 - $325,000 base salary (based on experience), 25% annual cash bonus, and equity (RSUs)
