Sr. Specialist, Supplier Quality Engineer

2. About the Opportunity:
The Sr. Specialist Supplier Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring supplier products and services meet contractual and quality standards. This position is essential for maintaining supplier performance, driving quality improvements, and facilitating timely product releases that meet internal customer expectations. The role contributes directly to the integrity and reliability of the supply chain through close collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
3. Responsibilities:
Conduct supplier visits to review product and process issues.
Interface with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to ensure requirement compliance.
Analyze supplier processes, manufacturing plans, and inspection plans.
Review and approve First Article Inspections according to AS9102.
Perform root cause analysis and drive process improvements at supplier sites.
Manage supplier performance to maintain a 100% quality rating.
Participate in Early Supplier Engagements including Post Award Reviews.
Resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages.
Prepare reports on supplier performance, non-conformance history, and cost of poor quality impacts.
Manage supplier ratings and oversee performance review meetings.
Perform periodic source inspections at supplier locations.
Travel up to 80% to supplier sites.
Obtain and maintain US Level Secret security clearance.
4. Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years relevant quality experience, or Graduate degree with 4 years, or 10 years relevant experience without a degree.
Valid driver’s license and meet automobile insurability requirements.
Ability to travel up to 80% to regional suppliers.
Knowledge of machining processes, engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection techniques.
Experience with nonconformance management, corrective actions, and supplier performance improvement.
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
Familiarity with AS9100 and AS9102 standards.
Experience in manufacturing or inspection environments.
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or similar regulated manufacturing.
Experience in supplier surveillance, development, and source inspection.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Salary range in specified US regions varies between $84,000 and $178,000 depending on location and experience.
Final offer depends on factors including experience and geography.
