Senior Power Systems Software Engineer opportunity with our client. This is a Remote, immediate-start position for professionals with a strong combination of power systems/grid operations expertise and hands-on software development experience.

Role Overview
We are seeking a senior engineer to develop, enhance, implement, and support software applications supporting electric grid operations, power systems analysis, EMS, and energy markets.
The ideal candidate will bridge Power Systems Engineering + Software Development, working on reliable, scalable, high-availability grid applications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain power systems, EMS, grid management, and energy market applications.
Design and implement software supporting grid operations, power system analysis, and market processes.
Participate throughout the SDLC: requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Troubleshoot complex application and system issues and perform root-cause analysis.
Develop application enhancements, code fixes, model-conversion tools, and technical documentation.
Support releases, upgrades, implementations, and production deployments.
Collaborate with power systems engineers, developers, QA, product teams, and business stakeholders.
Improve application performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
Work within Agile/Scrum development environments.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or related field.
Strong experience in power systems analysis and electric grid operations.
Experience with EMS, energy markets, grid management, or power systems software.
Hands-on programming experience with Java, C++, .NET/C#, or similar.
Understanding of transmission systems, electricity markets, and EMS.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
SCUC, SCED, Economic Dispatch, Unit Commitment
Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) and optimization algorithms
Operations Research / Applied Mathematics
EMS, ADMS, DMS, SCADA
Power flow, grid optimization, transmission/distribution systems
Experience with ISO/RTOs, electric utilities, or grid software vendors
Ideal Background
Candidates from electric utilities, ISO/RTO organizations, grid software vendors, EMS providers, energy market technology companies, or power systems consulting firms are highly preferred.
