Senior Group Financial Accountant

PURPOSE
This role presents an excellent opportunity to join the Group Financial Control team as a Senior Group Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will play a key role in delivering core financial processes, including (but not limited to) month-end group consolidation and the preparation of statutory financial statements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Own the month-end reporting process for selected international subsidiaries of CAR Group Limited, including review of monthly reporting packages and ensuring compliance with IFRS accounting standards.
Prepare monthly consolidation workpapers and journals.
Assist with cash flow and debtors reporting for inclusion in the monthly finance Board report.
Play a key role in the delivery of the half-year and annual financial reports, including preparation of financial statements and accompanying notes.
Support climate-related financial reporting under ASRS.
Perform annual impairment analysis for selected CGUs.
Assist with managing the external audit process.
Support the Executive GM – Financial Control and Senior Finance Manager on strategic finance initiatives and in addressing technical accounting matters.
Contribute to key finance projects as they occur (e.g. system migrations, business combinations, capital transactions, etc).
Proactively investigate accounting and reporting issues, developing practical solutions and recommendations.
Build relationships with finance teams across the Group and act as a trusted business partner in resolving reporting and technical accounting matters.
Drive process improvement, automation and finance transformation initiatives across the global finance function.
Provide ad hoc analysis and support to the broader finance function as required
Professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA.
3+ years relevant accounting experience.
Strong technical accounting skills and experience dealing with group consolidations, foreign currency translation and impairment is desirable.
High level of excel proficiency.
Previous experience with NetSuite ERP or similar accounting programs is advantageous.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage with finance teams and other stakeholders across multiple international jurisdictions.
Naturally curious and proactive, with strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
A genuine desire to learn, develop and broaden their skill set within a high-performing finance team.
Demonstrates strong initiative, accountability and ownership, with the ability to work independently and follow tasks through to completion.
