Program Overview
We are looking for motivated individuals who want to build real-world software products and gain practical experience in modern application development and Artificial Intelligence.
Duration: 6-month paid internship program.
Compensation: LKR 30,000 - 50,000 monthly allowance.
Experience: Previous professional or commercial experience is not required.
Location & Schedule
Location: Fully remote, based in Sri Lanka.
Equipment: Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and reliable internet connection.
Hours & Schedule: Flexible hours - 8 hours/day. Must be available during standard Sri Lanka daytime hours, as well as evening hours.
Timezone Overlap: Expect regular meetings with our Australian-based founders around 7:00 PM–8:00 PM SLST.
Weekends: Working on weekends is not our standard practice, though there will be occasional brief meetings or small tasks to manage.
The Role & Potential Work
This position is focused on Applied AI Engineering, not just theoretical Machine Learning or Data Science. We are looking for someone interested in integrating AI capabilities into actual software applications. During the program, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience with:
Integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications.
Developing AI agents, automated business workflows, and AI-assisted search tools.
Working with OCR, document intelligence, intelligent document classification, and structured data extraction.
Performing entity matching, model/API evaluation, and human-in-the-loop AI validation.
Integrating AI services seamlessly with existing conventional software applications.
Core Requirements
Candidates should be studying or have recently completed qualifications in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, IT, or a related discipline. You should bring a foundational understanding of:
Python and general programming fundamentals.
APIs, data structures, and JSON.
SQL/databases and Git version control.
Basic Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence concepts.
Advantageous Skills: Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs), OpenAI APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, computer vision, or NLP will be highly regarded.
What We Value
We are particularly interested in candidates who:
Have experimented with AI outside of university assignments and have built an AI/ML/LLM project (demonstrable through GitHub or a technical portfolio).
Understand Python reasonably well and are curious about how AI can solve real business problems.
Understand that production AI requires rigorous validation, testing, and monitoring.
Have a balanced interest in both AI and conventional software engineering.
Can research unfamiliar technologies independently and explain their approach and architecture.
Do not just blindly generate code with AI; you must be able to understand, research, build, test, debug, and take responsibility for the solutions you produce.
