Role Description The Assistant Manager role at Tata Steel Meramandali is a full-time, on-site position based in Odisha, India. The Assistant Manager will support day-to-day operations by coordinating production activities, monitoring process performance, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. This role involves supervising designated teams or sections, tracking key performance indicators, preparing operational reports, and assisting in troubleshooting issues to maintain smooth plant operations. The Assistant Manager will collaborate with cross-functional departments such as maintenance, quality, and logistics, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reliability. The role also includes supporting compliance with company policies and statutory requirements, and contributing to training and development of team members.
Qualifications
Strong operational management capabilities, including experience in supervising teams, coordinating daily activities, and maintaining production schedules.
Knowledge of manufacturing or steel industry processes, with an understanding of safety protocols, quality standards, and basic maintenance practices.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data, identify process issues, and support corrective and preventive actions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams, frontline workforce, and leadership.
Proficiency in using standard office and industrial software tools for reporting, documentation, and data analysis.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Production, Mechanical, Metallurgical, or a related field; relevant postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
Prior experience in a heavy industry, steel plant, or large-scale manufacturing environment is preferred.
