2. About the Opportunity:
The Certified Medical Coder role is essential in ensuring the accurate assignment of medical codes to patient records, which directly impacts billing and reimbursement processes. This position contributes by maintaining coding quality and compliance with official guidelines, thereby supporting the financial and operational integrity of the healthcare system.
3. Responsibilities:
Accurately abstract patient records to assign correct ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
Ensure proper APC or DRG groupings according to coding standards.
Adhere to official coding guidelines, reimbursement requirements, and ethical coding standards.
Perform regular chart audits and query physicians to clarify documentation.
Maintain productivity and quality standards while staying updated on coding policies.
4. Requirements:
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from AHIMA or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC, or equivalent credential obtained prior to hire.
High school diploma or equivalent, or one year of relevant job experience.
Ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, within 6 AM to 6 PM Central Time.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Salary range: $24.87 per hour to $33.64 per hour.
