Position Summary
The Project Coordinator will support the implementation, coordination, monitoring and documentation of MHT programmes in Kolkata. The role requires close engagement with communities, government stakeholders, partners and the internal programme team to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of project activities and outputs.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage and coordinate MHT project activities in Kolkata and support the timely achievement of agreed targets and deliverables.
· Support the preparation and implementation of annual activity plans, work plans and project targets.
· Maintain project documentation, including progress reports, management information systems (MIS), case studies, meeting notes and other relevant records.
· Undertake field visits for monitoring and evaluation, identify implementation gaps and support practical solutions.
· Develop, use and maintain templates and systems for capturing project activities, outputs and outcomes.
· Build and maintain constructive partnerships with government departments, civil society organisations, community institutions and other programme stakeholders.
· Support government engagement and coordination related to urban development, informal settlements and community priorities.
· Provide inputs for policy communication, presentations, knowledge products and programme communication materials.
· Support fundraising and proposal-development activities, as required.
· Support capacity building of project staff, community leaders and relevant stakeholders.
· Coordinate administrative and financial documentation required for the implementation of project activities.
· Track tasks, resources, budgets and progress, and report regularly to the Programme Manager.
· Perform other reasonable project-related responsibilities assigned by the reporting manager.
Qualifications and Experience
· Master's degree in Development Studies, Urban Planning, Social Work, Public Policy, Urban Development or a related discipline is preferred.
· Approximately 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, urban development, community development, social-sector programmes or a related field.
· Candidates with a different combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.
Required Skills and Attributes
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Strong report-writing, documentation, presentation and verbal communication skills in English.
· Working proficiency in Bangla and Hindi, along with English.
· Ability to understand urban issues affecting low-income and informal-settlement communities.
· Ability to coordinate day-to-day project and office activities and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
· Experience in monitoring activities, maintaining MIS records and tracking outputs and timelines.
· Ability to liaise professionally with government departments and other institutions.
· Basic understanding of administrative, budgeting and accounts-related processes.
· Ability to work respectfully with grassroots communities and understand community-led approaches.
· Willingness to undertake local field travel and occasional planned travel to Ahmedabad or other project locations.
