The Human Resources Specialist plans, directs, and coordinates human resource management activities to support the effective use of organizational talent and maintain key HR functions. This role is responsible for a broad range of human resources activities, including employee compensation, recruitment policy support, personnel policies, regulatory compliance, job evaluation, classification analysis, and personnel records administration. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and knowledge of employment-related laws, policies, and compensation practices.
Responsibilities
Advise managers and employees regarding federal and state employment regulations, collective agreements, employee benefits, compensation policies, personnel procedures, and classification programs.
Evaluate job positions and determine appropriate classification, exempt or non-exempt status, and salary recommendations.
Prepare and maintain occupational classifications, job descriptions, and salary scales.
Support the development, preparation, and maintenance of personnel records, employee documentation, and handbooks.
Conduct job analysis and evaluation activities to support organizational workforce planning and compensation practices.
Prepare reports, including organizational charts, workflow charts, career path documentation, and compensation analysis summaries.
Assist with personnel policy administration and ensure compliance with applicable employment regulations and organizational guidelines.
Analyze and organize workforce information to support human resources planning and decision-making.
Collaborate with managers and employees to address human resources-related inquiries and provide guidance on established policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience Requirements
2 to 4 years of customer service-related experience required.
Experience supporting human resources functions, employee relations, compensation, personnel administration, or related activities is preferred.
Required Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively manage time and priorities.
Knowledge of legal policies and procedures related to hiring practices, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines.
Knowledge of employee benefit programs and compensation structures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to prepare reports, documentation, and workforce-related records accurately and efficiently.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting job classification, compensation analysis, or workforce planning activities.
Experience preparing organizational charts, career path documentation, or workforce analysis reports.
Familiarity with personnel record management and employee handbook administration.
