We are looking for an HR Specialist to support unemployment claims administration for a corporate organization based in Richmond, Virginia This is a REMOTE position - you must live in Eastern or Central time to be considered. This Contract position is ideal for someone who can assess employment records carefully, respond to state inquiries with accuracy, and communicate effectively with managers and business locations. The role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage a steady workflow of unemployment claim cases and prepare timely, accurate responses to initial filings.
• Review separation and termination documentation to gather the facts needed for state agency requests.
• Partner with managers and store-level contacts to clarify employment decisions when case details are incomplete or require verification.
• Submit wage-related information and supporting records to agencies handling unemployment matters across multiple states.
• Evaluate available documentation, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and determine the most appropriate response based on the facts.
• Maintain organized case files and track outstanding items to ensure deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
• Use HR and case management systems to research records, document actions taken, and support claim resolution.
• Communicate professionally with internal stakeholders while handling sensitive employment information with discretion.
• Prior experience handling unemployment claims, including responses to multistate requests and wage verification.
• Ability to work efficiently through a high-volume queue while maintaining accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with managers and interpreting case information clearly.
• Comfortable navigating HR systems and using technology to retrieve records and document case activity.
• Experience supporting multistate unemployment claims; familiarity with Equifax is preferred.
• Knowledge of Workday and Salesforce is an advantage.
• Excellent organization skills, sound analytical thinking, and the ability to assess information quickly and accurately.
