Insider Risk and Controls Specialist
We are looking for a Detail-Oriented Security Analyst to support our clients Insider Risk Management team. In this role, you will work alongside senior investigators to analyze security alerts, compile investigative artifacts, and help safeguard critical company data.
This is a 12 month contract role with options for extension and permanency afterwards. Strong skills with KQL are essential.
What You’ll Do
Analyze & Investigate: Review alerts from DLP, SIEM, UEBA, CASB, and EDR to flag risky behaviors (e.g., data exfiltration, mass downloads, unusual access).
Manage Case Artifacts: Build timelines, organize log files, capture evidence, and document findings clearly in case management tools.
Support Interviews & Documentation: Act as a scribe during subject/manager interviews and draft clear case summaries for lead investigators.
Remediation & Offboarding Controls: Assist end users with removing company data from personal devices and execute offboarding security protocols for departing employees.
Root Cause Analysis: Identify patterns contributing to data security incidents and follow strict playbooks and escalation guidelines.
What We’re Looking For
Core Security Knowledge: Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, data protection, and insider risk concepts.
Tool Familiarity: Exposure to SIEM, DLP, EDR, UEBA, or CASB monitoring tools.
Technical Skills: Basic querying/scripting skills in KQL and Python are a strong plus.
Analytical & Organized: Strong eye for detail, pattern recognition, and experience assembling structured case files/timelines.
Solid Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable scribing live interviews and interacting professionally with staff.
Discretion: High integrity and proven ability to handle sensitive, confidential investigations.
