Application Support Engineer (AWS)
You'd be the first dedicated pair of hands on monitoring at a growing SaaS business: standing up alerting across their AWS estate, doing the triage yourself while the function is small, and writing the run books everyone who joins after you will work from.
Application Support Engineer - The essentials:
Up to 100,000USD/annum + benefits (medical, dental, vision cover, performance bonuses, holidays)
Fully remote, occasional travel to Dallas will be required
3 to 5 years' experience, working alongside Engineering and DevOps
Application Support Engineer - What you'll do
Configure and run AWS-native monitoring and logging, including CloudWatch, CloudTrail and AWS Config
Integrate that with third-party tooling such as Datadog, Prometheus, New Relic and Grafana
Build alerts, dashboards and escalation workflows across AWS and hybrid environments
Handle active monitoring and alert triage until the function is staffed further, and write the run books and standard operating procedures for incident management
Support AWS identity and access management, cost monitoring and baseline security configuration, guided by Engineering and DevOps
Work with the CISO and the compliance lead so monitoring practices and access controls meet SOC 2 and ISO 27001 requirements
Application Support Engineer - What you'll need
Essential:
3 to 5 years in application support or systems support
Hands-on AWS monitoring, logging and IAM administration
Experience standing up and maintaining alerting systems, not only responding to them
Level 2 support delivered directly to SaaS clients
A solid grounding in incident management and user access provisioning
Experience working under SOC 2 or ISO 27001 in a cloud environment
Nice to have:
Incident and change management tooling such as ServiceNow
Endpoint management and compliance-friendly IT practices
Able to work West Coast hours
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
You'll have little direction early on, so clear written communication and comfort building repeatable processes matter as much as the tooling.
