🔹 Role: Head of Engineering
We are looking for a passionate and hands-on Head of Engineering to take complete ownership of the technology powering our loan comparison platform.
You will architect scalable and secure backend systems, manage cloud infrastructure, contribute directly to critical code, and build and lead a high-performing engineering team.
You will work closely with the Product Manager and Executive Team to convert business strategy into high-impact technology solutions.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
Backend Architecture & Development
Architect and develop scalable, maintainable and testable backend systems and APIs.
Work extensively with Java, Python and modern backend frameworks.
Design RESTful APIs and microservices for high-volume applications.
☁️ Infrastructure & DevOps
Design, secure and manage highly available AWS cloud infrastructure.
Work with Docker, Kubernetes/Docker Swarm, Ansible and CI/CD pipelines.
Ensure reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.
🗄️ Database & Data Engineering
Design and optimize MongoDB/Mongoose schemas.
Manage data flows across core platform services.
Optimize database performance and application response times.
🔐 Security & Performance
Manage Linux/Ubuntu environments.
Implement robust security practices, including IAM roles and permissions.
Maintain high uptime, security and low-latency performance.
🔗 Integrations
Build and maintain reliable third-party API integrations.
Collaborate with front-end engineers to ensure clean and efficient data consumption.
👥 Engineering Leadership
Lead technical discussions and code reviews.
Define engineering processes and development standards.
Delegate effectively and mentor engineering team members.
Actively participate in hiring and building the engineering team.
🎯 What We're Looking For
Core Requirements
8+ years of backend engineering experience in high-volume, data-intensive technology environments.
Experience in FinTech, lending, credit or payments is highly desirable.
5+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
Strong proficiency in:
Java
Spring Boot
RESTful APIs
Microservices
Data Structures & Algorithms
Distributed Systems
Strong experience designing, deploying and optimizing resilient, high-performance systems.
Practical experience with:
Linux/Ubuntu
MongoDB
Database performance tuning
Caching
Asynchronous/event-driven processing
⭐ Preferred Experience
Docker & Kubernetes
Event-driven architectures
High-throughput transactional systems
FinTech, payments, lending or credit platforms
