About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Java Backend Developer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be based in either Santa Clara, CA, or Dallas, TX, operating in a hybrid work environment. This role is pivotal in developing and maintaining scalable, secure, and reliable microservices for our banking and financial clients. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Java development, particularly within financial services, and demonstrate a strong security mindset. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement robust backend solutions that align with business requirements and industry standards.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates should have over 12 years of progressive experience in software engineering with a focus on backend development. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, or equivalent work experience demonstrating relevant skills. Candidates must have hands-on experience with microservice architectures using Spring Boot, Java/J2EE, and RESTful web services. Proficiency in working with relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL, and familiarity with NoSQL technologies like Elasticsearch and Redis, is essential. Experience with Kafka for messaging, AWS cloud services, and API gateway design is highly desirable. Strong understanding of security best practices, TDD, CICD pipelines, and Agile methodologies is also necessary.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining microservices using Spring Boot and Java 17. You will be responsible for creating and consuming RESTful APIs, ensuring secure API implementations with Spring Security, and integrating with relational and NoSQL databases. Managing messaging queues with Kafka, implementing caching strategies, and optimizing search functionalities with Elasticsearch are integral parts of the role. You will analyze production issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and implement effective solutions promptly. Collaborating with frontend teams utilizing React, and participating in Agile sprint planning and reviews, are also key aspects of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of automated unit tests using JUnit and support continuous integration and delivery pipelines to ensure high-quality software releases.
