Senior Finance Consultant | Interim Finance Leadership | Remote
We’re looking for a senior finance leader who knows how to build, not just manage.
Our client is establishing a new North American Paper & Pulp business with multiple operating mills and is now building the finance structure that will support the business as it continues to grow through acquisitions.
This is an opportunity to step in early and help shape the finance architecture, reporting structure, processes, and organizational model across a decentralized, multi-site business.
What you’ll be doing
• Help design and establish a centralized finance function across multiple mills and business units
• Evaluate what should remain at the site level versus what should be centralized
• Establish consistent financial reporting and a monthly reporting cadence
• Consolidate multiple P&Ls and provide insight into business performance
• Partner with GMs and existing controllers across the organization
• Lead FP&A, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• Strengthen accounting, controls and audit processes
• Support U.S. and Canadian tax compliance
• Oversee cash management and banking relationships
• Help evaluate finance systems, processes and integration opportunities
• Support organizational design and the development of the future finance team
• Work closely with senior leadership as the business continues to integrate acquisitions
What we’re looking for
• 10–15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
• CPA strongly preferred
• Previous CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, Division CFO, Controller or similar leadership experience
• Experience in Paper & Pulp, forest products, packaging, process manufacturing or other asset-intensive manufacturing environments
• Strong multi-site or multi-business-unit experience
• Experience centralizing or transforming finance organizations
• M&A / acquisition integration experience is highly valuable
• Strong FP&A, financial reporting, controls and consolidation experience
• Exposure to both U.S. and Canadian finance/tax environments preferred
• Comfortable working in a decentralized and evolving organization
• Strategic enough to design the model, but hands-on enough to help build it
The opportunity
This is expected to be a 4–6 month consulting engagement, with the possibility of evolving into a permanent CFO or VP Finance role as the organization takes shape. Permanent conversion is not guaranteed.
Fully remote within Canada, with U.S.-based candidates also potentially considered.
