Legal Expert, AI Training & Evaluation

ExpertCrowd is building a network of attorneys and legal professionals to help shape how AI systems understand the law. As AI tools move into legal research, contract review, and compliance work, their quality depends on people who know what a correct, well-reasoned legal answer actually looks like.
In this role, you'll bring your legal knowledge and professional judgment to AI training and evaluation projects, helping models reason more accurately about legal topics and perform real-world legal tasks more reliably. We welcome professionals across practice areas, including attorneys, paralegals, legal researchers, compliance specialists, and legal operations professionals. Assignments will reflect your experience and area of expertise.
What You'll Do
Review AI-generated legal content for accuracy, clarity, and quality, identifying errors in reasoning, citation, and application of law.
Create realistic legal scenarios, questions, and reference answers that reflect how legal problems arise in practice.
Research and analyze legal documents, contracts, and regulations to support model training and evaluation.
Provide structured feedback and clearly explain the reasoning behind your assessments.
Review other contributors' work against project guidelines to maintain consistency and quality across the team.
What You Bring
Professional experience in law or a related legal field.
Strong research, analytical, and written communication skills.
Close attention to detail and sound professional judgment.
The ability to follow project guidelines and meet deadlines working independently.
A genuine interest in applying your expertise to AI development.
Relevant degrees, professional qualifications, or licenses may be required for specific projects.
Nice to Have
Prior experience with AI tools, data annotation, or model evaluation — welcome but not required.
Depth in a specific practice area (e.g., corporate and commercial, litigation, regulatory and compliance, employment, IP, privacy).
Experience reviewing or editing the work of others, such as supervising associates or paralegals, or managing quality review.
