About The Role
The Boeing Company is seeking experienced Senior Missions Systems Software Engineers specializing in embedded systems to join our Mission Systems Software team based in Berkeley, Missouri. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and integrating safety-critical and mission-critical flight software for advanced aerospace applications. You will work within an agile, integrated product team environment, contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture design, coding, testing, and documentation. Your expertise will help ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and high-performance software solutions that meet stringent industry and safety standards.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex projects involving sensor fusion, mission management, resource allocation, fire control, weapons engagement, and tactical communications. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, along with extensive professional experience. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance post-employment, with U.S. citizenship required for program access. A minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience, including full software development lifecycle expertise, is essential. Proven experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Java, Ada, and Linux is required, alongside familiarity with embedded real-time operating systems and hardware integration.
Preferred qualifications include a higher degree in a STEM discipline, experience with industry-standard tools like Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices, and a background in developing operational flight software for aircraft platforms. Familiarity with open architecture standards such as Open Mission Systems and open communication protocols will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded software that complies with industry, safety, and regulatory standards.
Translate customer requirements into detailed software designs for embedded systems and hardware integration.
Develop code for specialized hardware platforms, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Integrate embedded software with hardware components, performing thorough testing and debugging to ensure system stability.
Monitor and improve the efficiency, safety, and robustness of embedded software systems through continuous analysis and optimization.
Implement emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance development processes and product capabilities.
Advise on hardware-software integration, ensuring seamless system operation.
Track and evaluate team performance, ensuring compliance with project timelines, industry standards, and quality benchmarks.
Lead embedded software projects, including planning, execution, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
