About The Role
We are seeking a versatile Data Scientist to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a direct hire position that offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring candidates to currently reside in the Pittsburgh area. The role involves designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, as well as delivering advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and actionable business insights. The successful candidate will work extensively within the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem, leveraging its integrated tools to support enterprise data modernization and cloud transformation initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply cutting-edge AI and machine learning techniques to solve complex business challenges across various domains including pricing, sales, supply chain, and customer analytics.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. They should have 3-5 years of experience in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Data Science roles, with a strong background in Power BI, SQL, and data modeling. Proficiency in Python for analytics and data manipulation is required, along with experience working with large enterprise datasets. Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric services such as Lakehouse, Spark, Data Factory, and semantic models is highly preferred. Certifications in Azure, Power BI, Fabric, or Data Engineering will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
The Data Scientist will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive dashboards and analytical solutions in Power BI, including semantic models, paginated reports, and executive scorecards. Building KPI-driven dashboards for pricing analytics, POS sales trends, inventory optimization, and supply chain performance will be a core aspect of the role. The candidate will enable self-service analytics through governed semantic models, curated datasets, and reusable reporting assets, supporting large data volumes optimized for Fabric's Direct Lake semantic models. Developing predictive and prescriptive models for dynamic pricing, sales forecasting, demand planning, customer segmentation, and inventory replenishment will be essential. The role involves applying machine learning and AI techniques using Python, Spark notebooks, Fabric Data Science workloads, and Azure AI / OpenAI capabilities. Supporting AI-driven initiatives such as conversational BI, sentiment analysis, speech-to-text analytics, and agentic AI use cases will be part of the responsibilities. Additionally, the candidate will support data ingestion and transformation from various sources including Oracle, SQL Server, APIs, SaaS platforms, and event streaming platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions and presenting findings to leadership. Contributing to enterprise data modernization efforts and cloud transformation initiatives will also be key tasks.
