About The Role
The Brand & Motion Designer at Gusto is a senior individual contributor responsible for shaping and executing visual and motion design strategies that define the company's brand identity. This role involves working across multiple channels—including product launches, customer education, brand campaigns, and events—to create cohesive and compelling visual narratives. The successful candidate will own the creative process from concept to final delivery, making critical decisions around typography, color, composition, and motion. They will play a vital role in integrating motion design into Gusto’s brand system, establishing principles and patterns that ensure consistency across digital and physical formats. Additionally, this role involves directing AI-assisted creative work, setting standards for its use, and developing workflows that maintain high-quality output. The designer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and creative partners, to deliver innovative, on-brand content that resonates with diverse audiences. The position offers an exciting opportunity to influence Gusto’s visual language and contribute to its reputation as a human-centered, innovative brand.
Qualifications
6+ years of experience in brand design, visual design, and motion graphics within in-house studios, agencies, or content teams
Robust portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand identity, product marketing, campaigns, and digital content, including examples of AI-integrated work
Strong instincts in typography, color theory, composition, and motion direction
Proficiency in motion design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, Calvary, Rive, and Lottie
Experience directing AI-generated creative work and developing standards for AI-assisted production
Ability to balance large, brand-defining projects with fast-turnaround executional needs
Excellent collaboration skills across creative, marketing, product, and production teams
Maker mindset with a passion for improving creative workflows and processes
Comfort with transitioning between physical and digital formats, ensuring brand consistency
Responsibilities
Design and implement visual and motion assets for product launches, educational content, brand campaigns, and events
Develop and evolve brand systems, including motion guidelines, templates, and guardrails to ensure consistency across all channels
Integrate motion into the brand design process, establishing principles and patterns for animation and dynamic content
Evaluate and direct AI-generated creative outputs, setting standards for quality, brand alignment, and appropriateness
Utilize AI tools to accelerate concept development, iterate rapidly, and enhance the quality of deliverables
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate concepts into compelling visual stories from inception to completion
Build reusable templates and workflows to streamline production without sacrificing quality
Maintain brand integrity across all deliverables, including those involving AI-assisted creation, ensuring a cohesive and human feel
