About The Role
The Data Scientist role at Visa is pivotal in solving complex business problems through the application of advanced data science techniques, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) models, and data-driven frameworks. This position involves developing and executing a strategic vision for data science capabilities, leading the design and development of large-scale systems, and fostering a culture of innovation within the team. The Data Scientist will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and marketing, to integrate data science solutions that drive business impact. Effective communication of technical concepts to stakeholders is essential, as is the ability to influence business decisions with actionable insights. The role requires digital fluency, including familiarity with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, to support and enhance daily workflows.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree such as Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD.
Preferred: 3 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or more than 2 years with an advanced degree.
Experience with time series forecasting methodologies, including classical approaches like SARIMA/SARIMAX or Vector-Autoregression, as well as advanced techniques such as N-HiTS, TFT, DeepAR, NeuralProphet, or similar.
Familiarity with emerging time series foundation models and generative forecasting approaches, including TimesFM, TimeGPT, or related AI-driven tools.
Proven ability to incorporate AI and automation capabilities into data science workflows to improve forecasting accuracy, experimentation speed, and model scalability.
Strong experience in developing advanced data science models using multiple programming languages such as Python, R, and Spark.
Hands-on experience with data science tools and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn.
Experience working with large-scale, real-world datasets and building scalable models.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across regions.
Prior experience in project management, meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments, and working in global organizations.
Knowledge of deep learning, recommendation systems, generative models, and statistical analyses.
Previous exposure to the financial services or payments industry is preferred.
Responsibilities

Maintain expertise in multiple programming languages and data science tools to support ongoing projects and innovations.
Support automation and AI integrations to improve forecasting accuracy, experimentation, model monitoring, and operational efficiency.
Participate in project planning, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
