Role Description The Classification Agent is a full-time, on-site role based in New Delhi, responsible for accurately classifying shipments in accordance with customs, regulatory, and internal guidelines. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing shipment documentation, determining correct tariff codes and product categories, and ensuring compliance with local and international regulations. The role involves close coordination with operations, customer service, and customs clearance teams to resolve classification queries and minimize delays. Classification Agents will monitor regulatory changes, update internal records and systems, and support audits or compliance checks as needed. The role also requires maintaining high data accuracy, meeting service-level timelines, and providing clear, professional communication to internal stakeholders and, when required, customers.
Qualifications
Strong analytical and documentation skills, including the ability to review shipment details, interpret regulations, and maintain accurate records.
Knowledge of customs procedures, trade compliance, and basic understanding of tariff codes or product classification frameworks (training or prior exposure preferred).
Proficiency in using office and logistics systems, including data entry tools, shipment tracking platforms, and standard productivity software (e.g., spreadsheets, email).
Effective communication skills to collaborate with operations, customer service, and regulatory teams, and to present classification decisions clearly and professionally.
High attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and capacity to work within defined timelines and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to learn and apply changing regulatory requirements, company policies, and classification guidelines with minimal supervision.
Prior experience in logistics, supply chain, customs, or related domains is an advantage; a relevant diploma or degree in business, commerce, or a related field is preferred.
