About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks for web and mobile applications. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7 years of comprehensive software testing experience, with a strong focus on automation across diverse platforms including web (using Playwright) and mobile (using Appium). You will own the end-to-end automation process, ensuring high-quality releases through meticulous planning, execution, and continuous improvement of testing strategies. This role also involves mentoring junior team members, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and driving quality initiatives that align with our business objectives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience of at least 7 years in software testing, with a strong emphasis on automation frameworks and scripting, is essential. Expertise in Playwright for web UI automation and Appium for mobile automation on Android and iOS platforms is required. Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with hands-on experience in building automation frameworks from scratch, is critical. Familiarity with API testing, database validation, and CI/CD integration is also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities. Experience with tools such as JIRA, TestRail, Jenkins, Git, and cloud device labs like BrowserStack or Sauce Labs will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
Test Planning & Design: Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and automation strategies based on project requirements. Participate in requirement analysis, design discussions, and review meetings to provide insights on testability, automation feasibility, and risk assessment. Determine the scope of manual versus automated testing and define regression testing scope for each release.
Automation Framework Ownership: Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks utilizing Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript) for web and Appium for mobile platforms. Establish and enforce framework standards, including helpers, fixtures, and utilities, to ensure maintainability. Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring scheduled runs, parallel execution, and detailed reporting. Monitor suite health by investigating flaky tests, reducing execution times, and maintaining high pass rates. Execute tests on real devices and cross-browser/device farms such as BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.
Test Execution: Conduct functional, integration, system, regression, and API testing on web and mobile applications. Automate high-value manual test cases and validate backend behaviors through API testing and database checks.
Defect Management: Collaborate with developers to reproduce, analyze, and resolve defects. Ensure accurate defect documentation, distinguish genuine bugs from environment issues, and drive issues to closure.
Reporting & Communication: Prepare detailed test reports, automation coverage summaries, and quality metrics. Communicate testing progress, risks, and release readiness to stakeholders and leadership. Maintain quality dashboards to track defect trends, automation success, and testing efficiency.
Collaboration & Mentoring: Work closely with cross-functional teams to align testing efforts with project goals. Review automation code, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior QA engineers in automation best practices, debugging, and testing fundamentals.
Additional Responsibilities: Stay updated with the latest testing tools and methodologies, contribute to process improvements, and support the adoption of shift-left automation practices within the team.
