About The Role
The Quality Engineer at Rolls-Royce plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and reliability. This position involves implementing and overseeing quality control processes across manufacturing and operational activities at the Mankato, MN facility or at strategic partner locations. The successful candidate will utilize advanced quality engineering tools, conduct product inspections, and coordinate corrective actions to resolve production issues. The role demands a proactive approach to identifying root causes of non-conformances, developing long-term solutions, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, effective communication of quality metrics, and adherence to industry standards are fundamental aspects of this position. The Quality Engineer will contribute significantly to maintaining Rolls-Royce’s reputation for excellence and innovation in power systems technology.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, coupled with a minimum of three years of quality engineering experience in large industrial equipment manufacturing. Alternatively, candidates with seven or more years of relevant experience will also be considered. Authorization to work freely within the United States without sponsorship is required. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work flexible hours or shifts as needed. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, quality control processes, and manufacturing techniques is essential. Proficiency with PC applications, MS Office Suite, and familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA 70, NEC, UL 2200, and CSA are preferred. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, analyze problems, and implement corrective actions is critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and implement quality control objectives and activities to resolve production issues, enhance product reliability, and reduce costs.
Design and execute comprehensive quality control plans tailored to manufacturing processes and product specifications.
Develop and conduct quality audits of production lines and operational procedures to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
Oversee the Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA) process to identify potential failure modes and implement mitigation strategies.
Create and monitor long-term corrective actions through root cause analysis utilizing 8D and A3 methodologies.
Investigate non-conformances, including customer complaints and internal quality issues, to determine root causes and implement corrective measures.
Perform detailed product inspections in accordance with established quality control plans and standards.
Provide management with accurate, timely data on quality metrics, issues, and improvement opportunities.
Prepare and distribute detailed quality reports, highlighting key findings and recommended actions.
Maintain open communication with management regarding project progress, quality concerns, and upcoming initiatives.
Promote a culture of compliance and quality awareness aligned with Rolls-Royce’s Code of Conduct and corporate values.
Participate in special projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing quality systems and manufacturing processes.
