Chief AI Officer

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Chief AI Officer at KAPITAL. The Chief AI Officer will lead the organization’s AI vision and strategy, overseeing the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include directing cross-functional AI initiatives, guiding teams in data science, machine learning engineering, and product development, and establishing governance frameworks for ethical and secure AI use. The role involves collaborating with senior leadership to identify high-impact AI opportunities, setting performance metrics, managing vendor and partner relationships, and ensuring that AI systems are scalable, reliable, and compliant. The Chief AI Officer will also mentor AI and data teams, promote best practices, and communicate AI roadmap, risks, and outcomes to executive stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in AI strategy, including experience defining and executing organization-wide AI roadmaps, governance, and transformation initiatives.
Hands-on background in machine learning and data science, with practical experience in model development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
Proficiency in data architecture and engineering concepts, such as data pipelines, data platforms, and integration of AI services into production systems.
Demonstrated leadership in building, managing, and mentoring multidisciplinary AI teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of AI ethics, responsible AI practices, privacy, and relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks.
Experience using AI to drive measurable business outcomes in fintech, financial services, or a similarly data-intensive domain is highly preferred.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, manage distributed teams, and operate across time zones.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a track record of driving strategic initiatives from concept to implementation.
