Chief Development Officer (CDO)
1. Position Overview
The Chief Development Officer is responsible for formulating and leading the company's overall development strategy, identifying new business, market, cooperation and organizational development opportunities, and driving the company's long-term growth.
This position is usually responsible for business development, strategic cooperation, market expansion, corporate development, strategic projects and new growth opportunities, and participates in financing, investor relations, mergers and acquisitions and resource integration according to the type of enterprise. Its core goal is to combine external market opportunities with the company's internal resources to form a sustainable development path.
2. Main responsibilities
1. Corporate development strategy
Formulate the company's mid- to long-term development strategies and growth plans.
Analyze the company's internal capabilities and external market opportunities.
Identify new business growth directions and strategic priorities.
Translate corporate development goals into executable strategic plans.
2. Business development
Identify and develop new business opportunities.
Establish business development pipeline and opportunity evaluation system.
Drive new customers, new business and new revenue streams.
Work with sales and commercial teams to achieve business growth.
3. Market expansion
Analyze entry opportunities in new markets, industries and geographies.
Develop market entry and market expansion strategies.
Assess potential market size, competitive environment and business potential.
Push the company into new business areas.
4. Strategic cooperation
Develop strategic partner development strategies.
Find and evaluate potential partners.
Responsible for business negotiations on major cooperation projects.
Establish long-term strategic alliances and partnerships.
5. Corporate development and mergers and acquisitions
Identify potential mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic investment opportunities.
Participate in the screening and preliminary evaluation of target companies.
Coordinate due diligence, business analysis and transaction negotiations.
Promote business integration and value realization after transaction completion.
6. New business and growth opportunities
Research new business models, product directions and service opportunities.
Assess market demand and commercial feasibility of new businesses.
Promote new business from strategic planning to actual operation.
Establish a new business incubation and growth mechanism.
7. Strategic project management
Lead enterprise-level strategic development projects.
Develop project goals, timelines, resources, and performance metrics.
Coordinate multiple business units to jointly execute strategic projects.
Track project results and drive value realization.
8. Market and Competitive Intelligence
Continuously analyze industry, customer and competitor changes.
Establish a market intelligence system related to enterprise development.
Identify industry trends and potential risks.
Provide strategic development advice to CEO and management.
9. Business and resource integration
Align financial, product, sales, technical and operational resources to support growth strategy.
Identify synergies between a company's internal resources and external opportunities.
Promote cross-department resource allocation.
Improve execution efficiency of strategic projects and business development.
10. External relationship management
Establish relationships with important customers, partners, investment institutions and industry organizations.
Represent the company in important business activities and industry exchanges.
Support the construction of corporate brands and market influence.
Maintain the company's important strategic partnerships.
11. Develop team leaders
Lead the business development, corporate development and strategic development teams.
Establish talent recruitment, training and performance management systems.
Develop senior business development and strategic talent.
Build a results-oriented development team culture.
12. High-level strategic support
Report corporate development to the CEO, Board of Directors and senior management.
Provide analysis of market expansion, strategic cooperation and M&A opportunities.
Participate in major corporate investments and strategic decisions.
Promote the realization of the company's long-term growth goals.
3. Job requirements
Bachelor degree or above in business administration, finance, economics, marketing, strategic management or related majors.
Have extensive business development, corporate development, strategy or commercial management experience.
Experience in market expansion and strategic cooperation.
Familiar with business analysis, market research and competitive analysis.
Have business negotiation and large-scale cooperation project management capabilities.
Applicants with experience in mergers and acquisitions, investment or corporate development are preferred.
Have strong financial analysis and business modeling capabilities.
Experience managing cross-functional and senior teams.
MBA or related senior management education background is a plus.
