Director of Operations

About the Company
A fast-growing dietary supplement brand needs a hands-on Director of Operations to run day-to-day manufacturing, supply chain and fulfillment. The company's products include effervescent tablets, and volume is scaling.
About the Role
This role suits a director who has spent real time inside a supplement contract manufacturing environment. You know how a production floor, a purchasing desk and a QA team work together, and you want to own that end to end for one brand.
Responsibilities
Run daily production and operations: scheduling, capacity, throughput and on-time delivery.
Own purchasing and supply chain for raw materials, packaging and finished goods, including supplier selection, pricing and lead times.
Keep BOMs, inventory and MRP/ERP data accurate; drive planning from forecast to purchase orders.
Work closely with QA/QC so every batch meets cGMP (21 CFR Part 111) and documentation is audit-ready.
Manage relationships with contract manufacturers, co-packers and key vendors. Be on the floor when issues come up.
Track KPIs such as COGS, yield, fill rate, inventory turns and lead time, and fix what's slipping.
Lead and develop a small operations team.
Qualifications
7+ years in dietary supplement or nutraceutical manufacturing, including recent time at a contract manufacturer (CMO/co-man).
Current or recent Director or senior Manager title in Operations, Supply Chain, Purchasing/Procurement or Production.
Hands-on, in-building experience. You've worked on or next to the production floor, not only managed vendors remotely.
Working knowledge of cGMP for supplements (21 CFR Part 111) and how QA, production and purchasing hand off to each other.
Daily use of an MRP/ERP system (NetSuite preferred) and comfort with BOMs, inventory control and demand planning.
Clear communicator who can represent operations with customers, suppliers and leadership.
Required Skills
Hands-on operations leadership in dietary supplement or nutraceutical manufacturing.
Experience working directly with contract manufacturers (CMO/co-man).
In-depth familiarity with production floors, purchasing, and QA/QC collaboration.
Working knowledge of cGMP for supplements (21 CFR Part 111).
Daily use of MRP/ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers and leadership.
Preferred Skills
Effervescent tablet, tablet compression or powder blending experience.
Probiotic handling or cold-chain experience.
NSF, NPA or similar GMP certification audits.
Lean, Six Sigma or APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP) credentials.
Experience at a growing brand that's moving from outsourced to more in-house production.
