Fusion 360 Drafting Assistant

A growing Australian fabrication and manufacturing business specialising in custom metalwork and bespoke fabrication projects. As the business continues to grow and relocate its manufacturing operations, we're looking for an experienced Drafting Assistant to provide technical drafting and 3D modelling support to the team.
This role will help reduce drafting bottlenecks and allow the fabrication team to move projects from concept through to manufacture more efficiently.
This role requires strong, hands-on Fusion 360 experience and demonstrated sheet metal modelling skills — these are required, not just preferred.
We're seeking an experienced drafter with strong Fusion 360 skills, particularly in sheet metal modelling and fabrication-ready drawings. You'll work closely with the team to develop, modify and prepare accurate 3D models and technical drawings for manufacturing. The ideal candidate understands that drawings need to work in the real world — particularly for laser cutting, folding, fabrication and assembly.
Key Responsibilities
Create and modify 3D models using Fusion 360
Develop accurate sheet metal models and components
Produce fabrication-ready technical drawings
Ensure models can be correctly flat-patterned for laser cutting and folding
Modify existing designs based on client, architect and engineering requirements
Translate sketches, measurements and existing drawings into accurate 3D models
Make revisions and updates to drawings as projects develop
Check dimensions, tolerances and overall drawing accuracy
Follow the company's drawing standards, file naming conventions and documentation procedures
Communicate clearly with the team regarding drawing requirements and revisions
Assist with projects including custom water fountains, vehicle fit-outs and other bespoke fabrication work
Maintain organised project files and documentation
Essential Requirements
Required: Minimum 4 years of professional drafting experience
Required: Strong practical experience using Fusion 360
Required: Demonstrated experience with sheet metal modelling
Ability to create accurate fabrication and manufacturing drawings
Understanding of laser cutting, folding and sheet metal fabrication
Ability to create models that can be successfully flat-patterned for manufacturing
Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy
Ability to interpret drawings, measurements, sketches and design changes
Good written and verbal English communication
Reliable internet connection and ability to work effectively in a remote environment
Ability to follow established processes and drawing standards
