Role Description The Product Development Engineer is a full-time, remote role responsible for turning ideas into practical, well-crafted products that align with Orchid Workshop’s focus on intentional growth. Day-to-day tasks include leading product development initiatives from concept through validation, collaborating with cross-functional partners to refine requirements, and translating user needs into detailed designs and specifications. The role involves performing mechanical engineering analyses, building and testing prototypes, and iterating based on performance data and feedback. The Product Development Engineer will also support research and development efforts, document processes and findings, and contribute to continuous improvement of tools, methods, and product quality.
Qualifications
Strong Analytical Skills to interpret data, solve complex problems, and make evidence-based decisions.
Experience in Research and Development (R&D) and Product Development to drive concepts through testing and implementation.
Background in Mechanical Engineering to design, evaluate, and refine components and systems.
Product Design capabilities to create user-centered solutions, specifications, and prototypes.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related technical field (advanced degree is a plus).
Proficiency with CAD tools and engineering simulation software, and familiarity with prototyping and testing methods.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate remotely across disciplines.
Organized, detail-oriented approach and comfort working independently in a remote environment.
Experience with iterative design, agile development processes, or innovation-focused environments is beneficial.
