1. Job Purpose
To design, develop, modify and improve clay brick making machines and related mechanical systems, ensuring that designs are reliable, manufacturable, cost-effective, safe and suitable for high-production industrial applications.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Mechanical Design
Design new clay brick making machines, assemblies and components.
Develop 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
Design shafts, gears, sprockets, pulleys, bearings, frames, hoppers, conveyors, molds and other machine components.
Perform basic calculations for strength, load, torque, RPM, power transmission and component selection.
Design machine mechanisms considering production capacity and customer requirements.
Develop customized machines according to customer brick size and application.
B. Product Development & Improvement
Improve existing machines for higher production, better quality and lower maintenance.
Identify machine design problems and develop engineering solutions.
Reduce material, manufacturing and assembly costs without compromising quality.
Develop new mechanisms and automation features.
Participate in prototype development and testing.
C. Manufacturing Support
Prepare detailed manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
Prepare BOM, part lists and assembly drawings.
Coordinate with fabrication, machining, welding and assembly teams.
Resolve drawing and manufacturing issues on the shop floor.
Ensure designs are practical for available manufacturing processes and machinery.
Machine Testing & Troubleshooting
Participate in machine assembly, commissioning and trial runs.
Analyze machine failures and identify root causes.
Make necessary design modifications after testing and customer feedback.
Conduct performance trials and document improvements.Technical Skills Required
Strong knowledge of mechanical design and machine elements.
Good understanding of:
Shaft & bearing design
Chain & sprocket drives
V-belt & pulley drives
Gear systems
Power transmission
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Welding and fabrication
Sheet-metal components
Machine structures and frames
Tolerances, fits and GD&T
Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks/Creo/Inventor.
Ability to read and prepare manufacturing drawings.
Knowledge of basic engineering calculations and material selection.
Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, cutting and fabrication.
Qualification & Experience
Education: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
2–5 years of experience in mechanical machine design preferred.
Experience in industrial machinery, automation, fabrication or heavy engineering will be an advantage.
Freshers with strong CAD and mechanical-design fundamentals may also be considered.
