About the company:
Newndra Innovations is India's first exoskeleton startup. We build wearable devices that help people move, and our work has won national awards. We're looking for an engineer who can take a product from first sketch to production launch.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own product development end to end: concept, design, prototyping, testing and production launch
• Design mechanisms and complex assemblies (sheet metal, plastic parts, surfacing)
• Choose materials and manufacturing processes, and develop tooling with vendors
• Drive design control and certification (ISO, CE)
• Lead a small engineering team and present progress to management and customers
Skills and Experience needed:
• 5–7 years in mechanical product development, with at least one product taken to production
• Strong CAD: SolidWorks, Creo/Pro-E or CATIA, plus simulation tools
• Hands-on experience in mechanisms, prototyping, tooling and manufacturing processes
• A solid grasp of mechanical fundamentals; biomechanics knowledge is a strong plus
• A portfolio of past product development work (required)
• B.E./M.E. in Mechanical, Product Design, Biomedical or a related field

Role Description
The Senior Product Development Engineer will lead end-to-end product development activities, from concept generation and feasibility analysis to detailed design, prototyping, testing, and final release. This full-time on-site role, based in the Greater Kolkata Area, involves coordinating cross-functional teams, collaborating with R&D, manufacturing, and quality to ensure products meet performance, safety, and cost targets. The engineer will create and review mechanical designs, technical drawings, and specifications, while applying analytical methods to validate designs and solve complex engineering problems. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing project timelines, mentoring junior engineers, improving existing products, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in design and development processes.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Analytical Skills, including data interpretation, problem-solving, and design validation.
Candidates should possess experience in Research and Development (R&D), focusing on innovation, feasibility studies, and technology evaluation.
Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering, including mechanics, materials, manufacturing processes, and CAD tools.
Candidates should possess hands-on experience in Product Development and Product Design, covering concept creation, prototyping, testing, and optimization.
Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Beneficial skills include proficiency with CAD/CAE software, familiarity with industry standards, project management capabilities, and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while guiding junior team members are highly valued.
