Junior KYC Analyst - KYC Managed Service

Capitex is a specialist financial crime compliance firm. We work only in financial crime - AML, KYC, KYB, sanctions, transaction monitoring and fraud - and we resource managed services and remediation programmes across London, Dubai and New York.
We are recruiting Junior KYC Analysts for a Know Your Assets managed service supporting a global asset manager's alternative investments business. Know Your Assets is the financial crime process used to assess the risk attached to a fund's underlying investments. Unlike KYC, which looks at the risk posed by a customer, KYA looks at the underlying holding, its ownership and control structure, and the counterparties involved, including sanctions, PEP and adverse media exposure.
This is an entry-level role for someone analytical and organised who wants to build a career in financial crime, compliance or risk. You do not need prior KYA or KYC experience. Transferable skills from adjacent backgrounds are welcome, and full training is provided. What matters is a strong analytical mindset, good research skills and a disciplined approach to process and record-keeping.
Responsibilities
- Carry out due diligence on counterparties and underlying holdings, for new deals and reviews of existing relationships
- Conduct open source research to find and validate information
- Perform screening against sanctions, PEP and adverse media sources, investigate alerts and document the disposition
- Risk rate counterparties and record findings with clearly articulated reasoning
- Escalate red flags, risks and issues promptly to senior analysts or the team lead
- Maintain accurate records and audit trails within internal systems, following naming conventions
- Complete trackers and registers that feed management information and reporting
- Work within established control frameworks, workflows and SLAs
- Liaise with internal teams to resolve queries and chase missing documentation
Requirements
Essential
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to draw together complex information from several sources and spot potential risks
- Ability to conduct open source research accurately and validate what you find
- A methodical approach to recording information and following process
- Willingness to ask questions, follow the evidence and escalate promptly rather than guess
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Genuine interest in financial crime, compliance or risk
Desirable (none required to apply)
- Any exposure to KYC, KYB, AML or screening, including through an internship, placement or academic study
- Understanding of investment funds or asset management products
- Familiarity with the Money Laundering Regulations or FCA expectations
- Awareness of screening tools such as World-Check or LexisNexis
