Senior KYC Analyst - KYC Managed Service

Capitex is a specialist financial crime compliance firm. We work only in financial crime - AML, KYC, KYB, sanctions, transaction monitoring and fraud - and we resource managed services and remediation programmes across London, Dubai and New York.
We are recruiting Senior KYC Analysts for a Know Your Assets managed service supporting a global asset manager's alternative investments business. Know Your Assets is the financial crime process used to assess the risk attached to a fund's underlying investments: the holding itself, its ownership and control structure, and the counterparties involved, including sanctions, PEP and adverse media exposure.
This is the enhanced due diligence tier. You will handle the complex end of the caseload - layered and opaque ownership structures, high-risk jurisdictions and sectors, PEP and adverse media exposure that needs resolving rather than just recording. The work is judgement-led: we are looking for people who identify the red flags a checklist does not anticipate, articulate the risk clearly in writing, and can stand behind that assessment with the business.
Responsibilities
- Complete enhanced due diligence on complex counterparties, deals and investment structures
- Unpick ownership and control chains, including nominee, trust and multi-jurisdictional arrangements
- Resolve sanctions, PEP and adverse media exposure, and determine whether risk is mitigated or must be escalated
- Produce written risk assessments with clear reasoning, identified risks and proposed mitigants
- Present findings and recommendations to the Pod Lead, QC and, where required, client risk functions
- Liaise directly with investment desks to obtain documentation and clarify structures
- Support and check the work of junior analysts, and act as a technical point of reference
- Maintain complete audit trails and meet SLA on complex cases
Requirements
Essential
- Solid experience in KYC, KYB, KYA or financial crime due diligence, including enhanced due diligence on complex cases
- Demonstrable ability to write a risk assessment that reaches a conclusion and justifies it
- Strong understanding of ownership and control structures, source of funds and wealth, sanctions and PEP risk
- Confident conducting open source research and resolving ambiguous or conflicting findings
- Good judgement on what constitutes a genuine red flag and what does not
- Strong written and verbal communication
Desirable
- Experience in asset management, private equity, real estate, infrastructure or private debt
- Experience with complex or high-risk portfolios, including high-risk jurisdictions and sectors
- Familiarity with the Money Laundering Regulations and FCA expectations
- Experience with World-Check, LexisNexis or comparable screening tools
